Kahurangi Cottage Wilderness Retreat

Kahurangi Cottage Wilderness Retreat

Experience New Zealand Native Bush

Open 1st Nov to 1st March

Kahurangi Cottage Wilderness Retreat is located on the boundary of the Kahurangi National Park, the second largest national park in New Zealand, 26km from the township of Tapawera.  Surrounded by native beech forest, it is a wonderful place to get away from it all.  The cottage is in a remote location in the Western Ranges of Nelson, a truly magical place to relax and enjoy all that nature has to offer.  Take a walk through the bush and experience the native beech forest in complete solitude.

Kahurangi Cottage

The cottage is self contained with a fully equipped kitchen and lounge. The separate bedroom has a queen sized bed with a view of the surrounding native forest. The shower room leads off the bedroom, equipped with toiletries, soft towels and a hairdryer. Completely off grid, the cottage has solar power and gas hot water heating. Experience the night sky, while soaking in the outside bath, and relax to the sound of the river rushing by.

"If you're looking for somewhere a bit special, a secret place with a bit of magic, then Fiona's retreat is for you.  You are surrounded by virgin bush with walking trails, birdsong, and bucolic scenes everywhere you look, I was bowled over by the hospitality and the delicious goodies Fiona left me, cheese, farm fresh milk, home baked bread, top notch wine, and I even had oven-warm cookies delivered to the door.  Fiona her husband Grant and her two girls are the warmest and most hospitable people you could ever meet.  They even let me win my first game of Trivial Pursuit:)  Fiona is an artist and her retreat is chock full of lovely and unique touches.  I loved waking up to the stained glass window.  She also makes cosmetics and creams you can sample to your hearts content.  Final word: the trip up to their secret valley is worth staying there alone!  And it's the ideal escape for a fisherman, close to the Wangapeka and Motueka rivers"  Eoin , Ireland
